SAMPLE ESSAY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY
The Principal was the Chief Guest of the Programme. She hoisted the national flag on the school building sharp at 8:00 am. All the students and teachers saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem with nobody moved honoring it. Then followed the Cultural Programme. Patriotic Poems and Songs were recited both by the teachers and the students. Some students also presented the group dance and skits.
In the end, the Principal delivered the short speech. She told the students about the supreme sacrifice the great martyrs who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. She also said that the freedom was very precious and it was very necessary to preserve it.
The Principal also told the students to follow the ideals of the great people like Mahatma Gandhi, Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose etc. Then some more people delivered speeches on the occasion. All the speakers spoke about the significance of the historic day. They advised the students to become ideal citizens of the country.
In the end of the ceremony, sweet-balls ( laddoos) were distributed among the students. There was also the friendly cricket match between the teachers and the students.
The Independence Day has a great importance in every citizen's life. This day reminds us every year that freedom is sacred and citizens must do everything to ensure that it shall not be endangered.
SAMPLE ESSAY ON DIWALI
Diwali is my favourite festival. It is the festival of lights; it is celebrated in all parts of our country. A few days before Diwali, people clean their houses and shops and get them whitewashed. On Diwali day, people decorate their houses. On the night of Diwali, lamps are lit in every village, town and city. All the houses, shops and buildings are illuminated with earthen lamps, candles and electric bulbs. Children move about in their best clothes. People exchange sweets and gifts. Children spend money in buying sweets, toys and crackers. At night people worship ‘Laxmi’, the goddess of wealth. Diwali is a festival of joy. On this day everyone is happy.

My Dear Rakesh.
How are you? Hope you are doing well. Yesterday I went for a picnic with my classmates. We went to the Grand Park which is known for its natural beauty. We assembled in the school at 10 am. Then all of us went to the park in our school bus.

I was astounded to see multiple rows of beautiful flowers and the lush green grass there. A lovely breeze was blowing. The weather was very pleasant. All of us were very excited. We got down from our bus and went to play on the swings.

Suddenly we noticed something moving in the distance. It was a small train. We all ran towards it. The train stopped and we all got into it and went for a joy ride. It took us all around the park. We were all very thrilled.

After that we went to a corner in the park where there were a number of vendors were selling balloons, toys and foodstuffs. We bought our favourite gol-guppas, chaat, and cold drinks.

Then we all sat down and played a number of games. By then it was evening and it was time to get back. So we got into the bus and came back to school. Our parents were waiting for us. We rushed to tell them all about the picnic.

It was one of the best picnics I have had. Have you been to a picnic in the recent times. Do write to me all about it. Convey my regards to your parents.

With lots of love,
Your friend

My Dear Friend,
I hope this letter finds you in the best of health, I am writing this letter to inform you about the school picnic I went on last week.

We all took one dish with us as we all were asked to bring some snacks. There were pizzas, pasta, burgers. I enjoyed the food a lot because you know I love all kinds of fast food.

Our teachers also went with us. We started off with food and later when we were done eating we sang songs and played games. The weather was really good so we really enjoyed ourselves.

We came back around 6 pm in the evening. It was a really good trip. I will give you more details when we meet.

Pay my regards to your parents I will visit soon.

Dear Ram,
How are you? Hope you are doing well. Today is the happiest day of my school life, because, I have won the first prize in the dance competition. When we were at the initial stage of our friendship, you used to encourage me to participate in dance competitions, but I hesitated to do so. Finally, I got the courage in participating in it. It was one of the toughest competitions, and i finally won it. I just wanted to share my happiness with you. Hope to see you soon. Take care and God Bless
Yours lovingly,
Sam.

Dear………..
I have something very exciting to tell you. I have won the first prize in All Delhi Drawing Competition organised by the Delhi Art and Craft Society. The competition was very tough with a hundred participants, but the judges agreed in selecting my drawing for the first prize.
As you know, I had a passion for art during our school days also and I was the favourite student of our drawing teacher. I have won numerous prizes at the school level competitions.
I came to know of this competition from a newspaper and at once I decided to participate in it. Since the time of sending in the application, I have been preparing myself for the event. Since it is an ‘on-the-spot’ drawing competition, I made sketches on every possible subject.
Fortunately, I got my favourite subject ‘problems of old age’ at the competition. I had drawn the picture of an old man leaning on his walking stick and straining his eyes under a shaded hand to look at the sun sinking into the ocean in the West.I was simply thrilled when the convener announced my name for the first prize. I hope this success would help me a great deal to do better in future.Convey my regards to your parents and your elder brother. See you! Reply soon.
Your sincere friend,
